One Million Bones Austin

Lea, Kelley, and me, Saturday, April 28, 2012 at Austin Capital building during One Million Bones performance/filming (Peyton photographer - John is in line to lay bones)
Directed by a U.T. Art Education student, I was so proud to see so many U.T. faculty, students, and supporters there, as well as area art teachers and some of their students!  What a great event to remind us all about the atrocities of genocide worldwide.  Collaborative art project, initiated by Naomi Natale, ending in Washington, D.C. later this year.  Events like this one in Austin happening all over the country.  I was most proud of my 3 year old niece who participated by laying at least 6 bones very carefully in the carpet of bones we made leading up to the capital steps in Austin.  We also had many passersby stop and participate!  That was most unexpected and a great outreach to the community.

This was held on a Saturday after my infusion, so Sunday I was beat. I hardly came up for air.  The next three days busy wrapping up classes, then meetings, grading, and believe it or not summer school and prep for the fall!  Wow, this was a fast semester indeed.  Still keeping my fingers crossed that my regalia shows up in time for graduation on Friday, 5/18!!

Cheers and Have a great week, xo, Kara
